One fine day, tugged by my strings, I awoke,
Danced into the curse that my scourge bespoke.
While across clear blue skies, thunder rolled
Calling to a heart trapped and sadly sold.
Dismally my mind remained estranged
Then the tears came and the world changed,
As cloudlessly rain fell while I danced,
Strings falling as a dream chanced.
Through white wine-fuelled fire,
Another heart came to desire
The heart unsold from trickster.
And so the Muppet become a Monster.
Amongst giants and dwarves upon this bare shore
Making me my own doodling trail…

Wordplay
The five words: delete, kiss, wind, power, secret
In a time since deleted from memory,
A secret was born within the power of a stolen kiss.
Alas, one too great for man to bear.
Said the Keeper of Secrets, “Cede to Wind”
And so it was that mankind first learnt oblivion.
In a time since deleted from memory,
A secret was born within the power of a stolen kiss.
Alas, one too great for man to bear.
Said the Keeper of Secrets, “Cede to Wind”
And so it was that mankind first learnt oblivion.

Wordplay
‘twas once upon a hope
That I wished love would find me
And like a fireball, engulf me whole.
Yet, love came and went…
Left me alone, a tear falling
Upon a shattered heart.
Dave's five words from whence this poem sprung:
hope, love, fireball, tear, shattered
That I wished love would find me
And like a fireball, engulf me whole.
Yet, love came and went…
Left me alone, a tear falling
Upon a shattered heart.

Untitled
My sight hurts as though I’ve cried too long
My heart aches as though I’ve been broken
In the darkness, I grapple to set myself free
Futileness at its best,
For it is I who guards my prison doors
And should another shadow dare fall long blocking the dawn light
A touch of harshness should set it on its way.
My heart aches as though I’ve been broken
In the darkness, I grapple to set myself free
Futileness at its best,
For it is I who guards my prison doors
And should another shadow dare fall long blocking the dawn light
A touch of harshness should set it on its way.

Speculum (Mirror)
You look at my imperfect body with contempt
Clinging to the hidden knowledge of how it once was.
You find fault in every blemish upon my white skin
And under glaring lights of artificialness
You take no pains in pointing them out.
You look at my eyes and call them beautiful
You stand before me in all your superior nakedness
Failing to see beyond and within.

Fallen Diamonds
The earth’s womb weeps as dull the sky frowns
A touch of silver caresses the fragile diamonds;
Those that in their millions lie.
Alone they are many;
Merged - a forcible force.
What majestic power revered and feared by many
Could, with a single temper fell a nation?
Yet, we tread upon its afterthought everyday.
With and without;
Life grows and life stops.
Fallible while at its mercy we leak its essence.
Never enough; always too much,
No wonder the earth weeps.
A touch of silver caresses the fragile diamonds;
Those that in their millions lie.
Alone they are many;
Merged - a forcible force.
What majestic power revered and feared by many
Could, with a single temper fell a nation?
